No way

“Dancing With the Stars” was really fun, most of the time. It was way more work than I expected all of the time, and if they asked me to do it again, I would absolutely say, “No way.”

I have my dark side

Jeckyll and Hyde is pretty accurate. I have my ups and downs. June Cleaver/Roseanne Barr is another one that would be perfect for me. If you ask my kids, they would probably say something nice, which I try to be, but I have my dark side.

Girls are a hundred times easier

I can tell you with confidence that after 11 years of raising both girls and a boy, girls are a hundred times easier. They’re just safer. They don’t endanger their lives. I don’t have to worry about what they’re breaking. He’s crazy. The girls color and read. They fight sometimes, but I don’t care about that. I just want them to live.

I’m not a huge fan

Yes, we are pretty strict on it. I’m just not a huge fan. I would prefer not only that I don’t expose my children to that, I want my husband and I to choose different words in conversation, even when we’re angry. Does that mean that I never use inappropriate language? No. Does that mean my kids have never heard those words? No.

Growing up as a child star – do you think it’s harder or easier for young women in the entertainment field today?

I think it’s a lot harder now

It’s never easy for anyone to grow up in the public eye. It’s very difficult no matter the generation. There are a lot of unusual and weird pressures. When I grew up, it was difficult to be a child actor, but now it’s a completely different situation for young people and celebrities in general. When I was a kid, you had paparazzi but you knew where they were and you knew when they were coming. Now, everyone is paparazzi. Everyone has a phone. There is the added pressure of not trusting anyone, anywhere, and that didn’t exist when I was a child. I think it’s a lot harder now.
