What do you do to teach your daughter about having a healthy body image?

I believe you should lead by example

I don’t believe in teaching kids at a young age about body image. I believe you should lead by example. I never talk about dieting, weight, how things fit or being bloated. I think kids should have a wide variety in their diet, including vegetables, greens and beans. Don’t deprive them of treats — but don’t focus on them, either.

I called them green fries

I did try making the really, really thin asparagus, putting them on a cookie sheet, brushing them with olive oil and dousing them with sea salt. I baked them in the oven until they were extra crispy. I then called them “green fries.” My older son will actually eat them!

Sneaking some of that good stuff into smoothies

My favorite health food hack is sneaking some of that good stuff into smoothies. Flax seed, wheat germ, kale… you can mask it with some of the stronger-flavored fruits, like strawberry and banana.

What is that exactly?

“Exercise.” What is that exactly? I do take my dogs on walks at least four times a week. I walk around the house a lot! Housework has to be some sort of exercise, right?
